Marguerite Giguere
/ July 27, 2017
Kristina Walker, from Downtown on the Go, talks about some of the efforts state legislators used to try to change or curtail funding for Sound Transit 3 in the last session. *So far* those efforts didn't take, but Kristina talks to us about how to advocate for transit and transportation at the state, county, and local levels.

In this episode

  • Is ST3 in danger? Sound Transit 3 passed in November (yay!) but in the last session, state legislators tried to change taxation and assessed values of cars in an way that would significantly reduce the amount of funds going to Sound Transit (boo). *So far* those efforts haven't been successful.
  • Advocating for Transit Kristina recommends calling state legislators, including supporters and opponents of transit. She also recommends telling Tacoma city council members (and candidates) about the importance of transit connecting neighborhoods to (and between) downtown.
  • Shade watch Marguerite is feeling especially plainspoken in this episode. Listen for some shade!
